Mascots of Japan

June 23, 2010

Everything in Japan has a mascot, and they aren’t any old mascot, they are all as cute as they can possibly be.

The Tokyo police force has their own, named Pipo, because everyone likes to be reminded that law enforcement is as cute and cuddly as anything else.

Not to be left out, the Tokyo Fire Department also have their own, Kyuta.

Pharmacies as a whole have an odd orange Elephant child and are usually seen right outside the pharmacy doors, which makes them pretty easy to spot.

Whatever this thing is, it’s the mascot for Tokyo Tower

But my favorite of them all is Sento.  Mascot for the city of Nara, a former capital of Japan, it’s hard not to be impressed by his antlers.
